I don't know if I'm eloquent enough to put Hunter's brilliance into words.
Hunter Thompson was a voice for a generation. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is not only a crazy acid trip into the heart of Vegas in the early 70's, but a brilliant and gritty look into the drug culture and politics of the time. It's just amazing.
Every piece, every article that Hunter has ever written is a masterpiece-- uniquely Hunter and absolutely enthralling. I, for one, didn't care about politics until I started reading Hunter's take on them. Every book he's written is the best I've ever read; hysterical and somber, brilliant and crazy all at the same time.
What a freakin' powerhouse. Plus, he made fake Nike sneakers in his basement. I miss him.

No kidding! Anybody who can make Nike shoes in his basement is bound to be cool. Hunter made me giggle with his off topic side stories, his deliciously honest candour...I would have killed to spend one day with him--assuming he didn't hate me or anything like that--and just...not even hang out, but just to see things from that "Screw what other people think," position and do whatever I felt was necessary. That's what really endeared me to Hunter, that kick ass, walk tall attitude. It's only a bonus that he can write freaking amazing stuff.

YES! What a show. My favorite author to date. The greatest personality channeled flawlessly into writing without a drop left out-- and all to the glorious max! To me, Hunter defined fun. Hell, he defined a lot of things. He told us the true nature of the American Dream, how to live free, how to fuel electrcity in an ongoing vortex of sight, how to speak and view and critic and even dress! --just... ah! Indescribable. *collapses*

Heh, there are a bunch of guys in my drama class who are obsessed with Hunter. For a scene was have to perform, they wanted to do a bit from Fear and Loathing, but the teacher said that we couldn't do anything from a movie (made me sad, I wanted to do F&L too) so they stole a bit from the script and adapted it themselves. They gave it a new title and a new author so now they get to talk about girls in parking lots getting their heads chopped off. Lucky smeeps. -.-

*jawdrop* Theatre. I never thought they'd let it become a playground of Hunter's violent world. *mexican wave* Very nice. I wish I could do make-up in that or something. Have fun though, profesora. Man that's gotta be a fun class!

It's a very weird class, I can say that much. The teacher's a bit flakey, but otherwise, okay. Man...theatre geeks are something else.

Oh, what to say about HST? Nothing that you guys haven't said already. What an absolutely brilliant, definitive voice of generations - the founder of Gonzo journalism, really. Rest in Peace, Hunter - we'll miss you.
